Happy Meal Sanrio x Yugioh: The Collaboration We Never Knew We Needed

These Happy Meal toys are bringing back the nostalgia

Mcdonald's have recently released their latest Happy Meal toys and it's bringing back nostalgia for a lot of us. Millennials, Gen X, and Gen Z don't always agree, but we can all agree that this collaboration is something we never knew we needed. Not only are the kids excited, but so are the adults. The new Sanrio x Yugioh collaboration features 9 Sanrio characters dressed up as Yu-gi-oh characters.

The characters

When McDonald's released this collaboration in other countries like Canada, there was an additional character which was Badtz Maru (the black penguin) dressed up as Red Eyes Black Dragon. However, this character was missing from the U.S. McDonald's release. That sucks for us, but you can still get all the other characters if you are in the United States. The characters are Hello Kitty as Dark Magician, Cinnamoroll as Blue Eyes White Dragon, My Melody as Dark Magician Girl, Kerropi as Kuriboh, Chococat as Winged Dragon of Ra, Tuxedo Sam as Obelisk the Tormentor, Kuromi as Slifer the Sky Dragon, Pochacco as Time Wizard and Pom Pom Purin as Exodia.

Personally, I grew up watching Yu-gi-oh with my brother and am familiar with all of the characters. I also liked Sanrio, so I was super hyped about this collaboration. Since the drop, I've eaten 3 Happy Meals. I really want Cinnamoroll, but SURPRISE I haven't gotten him yet. Below is an image of 2 Happy Meals that I have eaten. Even though I didn't get the one that I wanted, I still ended up on the winning side because my McDonald's accidentally gave me double the amount of toys! I was only supposed to receive 2 toys, but I got 4. Unfortunately, all four of them were Kuribohs (LOL), well a win is a win. (Thanks McDonald's!) The last time I had a Happy Meal was 3 days ago, that time I got Hello Kitty as Dark Magician (not shown in the pic).

There's no telling when your local McDonald's might run out of these toys. In fact, when I found out about these, I called three different McDonald's in my area in the hopes of getting my hands on them. Two of them said they sold out and the other one said that their next shipment was the next day. These toys are hot, hot, hot! With the end of the collector's meal (Mcdonald's previous hype), and now with the release of the Hello Kitty x Yu-gi-oh, I would say that Mcdonald's is on a roll!

Will you be getting your hands on these? Which one is your favorite?
