Lee Animal Hospital provides quality care for an affordable price
Finding the right veterinarian can be a headache, but it doesn't have to be. Here's my experience at the Lee Animal Hospital.
Our sweet family dog, a chihuahua mutt |
Recently, there was a health scare with our family pet chihuahua. Suddenly one day he just gotta large lump near his private area. We had no idea why or how it got there. There was no small lump that was slowly growing, it was just suddenly a large lump that appeared. The family dog lives with my parents who aren't always able to take them to the vet. I made the appointments when I was living at home, but when I was no longer there, I needed to constantly remind them and they would prolong it whenever they could. Although, I thought our old veterinarian was okay, their hours were limited. I was concerned about the dog's health so I did some research.
After researching, I came across Lee Animal Hospital, a fairly new veterinary practice located in Orange, Orange County California. I called and was surprised that I would have been able to book an appointment for the same week if I wanted. Lee Animal Hospital is open Monday to Friday from 9am-12pm and then from 2:30pm-6:00pm. Unfortunately, they aren't open on weekends, but the weekday hours ending at 6:00pm allow room for flexibility. The receptionist who picked up my call was pleasant and gave me an appointment. I was given multiple text message reminders about my upcoming appointment as the date got closer.

Upon arriving, we were happy to see a parking lot with many spaces open. After moving to Los Angeles, I sometimes forget that places can have ample space for parking. When entering the building, there was a wide open space with a counter in the back. I checked in and waited 15 minutes to be called into a room. I waited in the room for another few minutes before a vet technician came in and took our dog's vitals. After that, we waited 10 more minutes before the doctor came in.
The doctor, Dr. Lee walked in and greeted us. He asked us some questions about our dog and then proceeded to give him a checkup. He felt around our dog's lump several times. He also checked for fleas, and afterward, he told us that he recommended a cytology analysis to rule out cancer which we agreed to. He also prescribed us some flea medication. My husband told me that the veterinarian gave him good vibes. I agreed, I felt like Dr. Lee gave us ample time to explain everything and his recommendations without feeling pressured. I almost called an in-home vet in which they told me they would have to run several different kinds of tests to figure out what the lump was. We appreciated that Dr. Lee did not not try to upsell us on any tests.
Dr. Lee left the room and after a few minutes, the veterinary technician came out with an iPad showing us an itemized list of our bills. I was able to review that our dog would be receiving some vaccines and flea medication along with the cytology analysis. The itemized list before you sign up is helpful and transparent which I love. The vaccines that were recommended but weren't mandatory (check your state to see which vaccines are necessary to comply with the law). I did agree to the vaccines, but if for some reason you didn't want the vaccines, you'd be able to review them and say no before the bill.
After signing on to the iPad, you go out and pay at the receptionist's counter. Our dog's results were emailed to us within a week. Turns out our dog did not have cancer and didn't need any further treatment unless it was starting to bother him. Regardless, I asked for a quote so that I can prepare myself for the future in case our dog's needs change. Dr. Lee did take the time to give me a quote, which I appreciated.
Overall, I had such a positive experience at the Lee Animal Hospital in Orange, that I had to write this review. The best part about Lee Animal Hospital besides the doctor is that transparent pricing. There's literally a chart on their website that gives you a general idea of how much it might cost to bring in your pet (depending on their needs). The chart doesn't include everything, but I did find it helpful. Compared to other veternarians in the area, I thought the prices were EXTREMELY fair. Affordability was a huge factor for me. People often say that if you're not paying very much, it means you aren't getting great service. In this case, it's not true at all. Lee Animal Hospital is of excellent quality and excellent price.
