Where is the best Indian restaurant in Los Angeles?
This might be the best place to get Indian food in Los Angeles and possibly Orange County
Our food we ordered at The Curry Place |
Indian cuisine is one of my husband's favorite cuisines. He loves it so much that he sometimes eats it 3-4 days out of the week and never gets tired of it. I like Indian food too, but not as much as he does. As a result, we go out for Indian food about 1-2 times per month. There has been some really good Indian restaurants, but none that really knocked our socks off until now.
Recently, I discovered The Curry Place while trying to find a place to satisfy my picky husband. After saying no (passively) to 3 of my suggestions, I asked him to just tell me the cuisine he wanted and I'll look for the place. You know how sometimes people poke fun at people in relationships who can never decide what to eat? The picky person is my husband. Anyways, The Curry Place is located in Little India, Artestia. Having lived in Southern California my whole life, I've actually never heard of Little India. I decided to choose The Curry Place because this is the highest-rated Indian Restaurant in the area. With a 4.9 star on Google and 4.8 star on Yelp, I had a good feeling that I chose the right place. (The ratings are accurate at the time of this article.) Each platform had over 100 reviews.
Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by a lady who placed us at a table that allowed ample space for our stroller. The restaurant was small, but not cramped. We were immediately served water upon sitting down. My husband and I opted for the tikka masala with lamb, chicken tandoori, 3 orders of Garlic Naan and a side of plain rice. We got medium spicy. (Personally, I love spicy food, but my husband can't handle it so I generally have to order at his spice level).
Crispy, yet soft, flavorful naan and not overcooked |
Lamb Tikka Masala |
The garlic naan came out first and it was followed by the tikka masala soon after. I took a piece of garlic naan, it was freshly made, hot, crispy and soft at the same time. Possibly one of the best garlic naans I've ever had. Next, I dipped it with the sauce from the tikka masala. The combination of the naan with the tikka masala was super yummy. The sauce was creamy and the spices were evenly balanced. The medium spice level was a bit more on the mild side (so if you're expecting medium to be spicy, it's not (keep in mind that I'm someone who eats really really really spicy). I usually don't like my food mild and it takes away the taste for me. However, I thought that the flavors worked so well that I didn't mind that it wasn't spicy (to me).
Chicken Tandoori on a sizzling hot plate |
The plain rice and chicken tandoori came out next. The chicken tandoori came out on a sizzling hot plate. The smell was amazing. You can literally smell the smokiness coming from the chicken. The chicken was delicious. The meat was moist, but also grilled to perfection. Sometimes chicken tandoori is dry when not cooked well.
Everything tasted great. This might possibly be the best Indian food restaurant I've ever been to. My husband agrees. When Google and Yelp ratings align, you know that's what's up. We can't wait to come back.
The Rating:
Food: 10/10 I would eat here again (possibly everyday if I could)

Customer Service: 8/10 Good, was checked on a few times.
Ambiance: 7.5/10 - Clean and standard
Stroller friendly- Yes, come at an off time because there is space for a stroller, but the restaurant itself is small.
